Moving

Moving Notice

After four lovely years at WordPress.com, I’ve decided to move my content to a new domain: (Thanks ICANN for releasing those new top-level domains!)

I’ve implemented a 301 site redirect, so visitors from the web will be automatically sent to the new site, but if you follow this blog via RSS or email, please update your subscriptions and bookmarks to the new location.

And remember, pans pulled out of the oven are hotter than they appear.

So, my last post didn’t dissuade you and you’re packing your bags anyway to attend the University of Gastronomic Sciences. Congratulations! Here is some advice on what to lug in your two suitcases, each under 23 kgs.

It’s obvious but must be said: when you pack, don’t forget you will have to bring it all back! Or consider bringing items that you would be comfortable donating to charity at the end of the year.

In the City that Never Sleeps: I Think I Have an Overemployment Problem

The sort of sidewalk message I pass on the way to work. I love Brooklyn.

Someone once asked me if I am like a shark—if I stop moving, will I die? Which is to say, I have never been one for being idle. But this time, I may have outdone myself. Right now, I am simultaneously a full-time student and a full-time employee. Score, I have created a monstrosity that will truly screw with BLS unemployment statistics.

Plan for the next 24 hours:

9:35 pm flight from JFK to Heathrow

Bus fro Heathrow to Gatwick

Fly from Gatwick to Turin

Bus from Turin airport to train station

Train from Turin to Bra

Get picked up by new flatmate Valeria at the train station at ~20:30 on Monday 5/24.

I am currently lugging about 80% of my body mass in luggage. NOTHING CAN GO WRONG. See ya’ll six hours in the future.
